In response to anti-Muslim rhetoric and suggestions by some in our country to openly discriminate against Muslims, the session of First Presbyterian unanimously approved, on behalf of the congregation, this statement in support of Muslims in our community.

Rides for Medical Appointments

Our church maintains a list of people willing to drive people to out-of-town medical appointments scheduled in advance.

We drive church members and non-members alike - there are no eligibility requirements.  We prefer a couple of weeks advance notice, if possible, and we typically restrict drives to within a radius 80 miles.

If you need a ride, please contact the church office at             641-236-6059.

First Presbyterian Church of Grinnell is a mission-minded congregation Even though many mission projects have no fixed dollar amount, in 2016 over $30,800 was given for local and global missions.

We serve all people without regard to sex, race, sexual orientation, religion, family structure or ability. We seek to joyfully embrace the diversity of God’s creatures.

The church participates in over thirty mission projects with some highlights on this Missions page.

If you are interested in participating in any mission project, please contact the church office.

  Food Recovery Network

Food Recovery Network is an organization which began in colleges on the East Coast to take unserved food from the colleges’ dining services which would otherwise go to waste.  In late 2013 a group of students from Grinnell College organized to participate in this program. During the college year food from the dining services is repurposed for distribution to hungry people in Grinnell. During the summer food is served from community outlets.

First Presbyterian Church is partnered with the FRN at the college to serve as a distribution site on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays of most weeks.  Food can be taken home to be reheated and served.
